A phenomenon known as “Nepocracy”.

Ancient Greek historian Polybius teaches us that governance is truly a cycle.

Starting from monarchy, tyranny, aristocracy, oligarchy, democracy, to ochlocracy.

Each form of government has its own weaknesses and strengths, and each form of government can transform into another in this cycle.

When power shifts from the hands of the people to a few individuals who have blood ties or interests with the leader? This is what we call Nepocracy.

Nepocracy, like monarchy, is based on inheritance and cronies.

However, unlike monarchy, nepocracy doesn’t always involve a direct transfer of power from parent to child.

Instead, nepocracy can involve the transfer of power to individuals or groups closely associated with the leader, be it through blood ties, marriage, or political interests.

Indonesia, like many other countries, is not immune to nepocracy.

In recent years, we have seen how nepotism and corruption have run rampant, eroding the foundations of our democracy.

As a nation, we have the power to change the course of our country. We have the power to break the cycle of nepocracy and return to the path of democracy.

The 2024 election will be a moment for democratic consolidation.

It is our opportunity to elect leaders who truly represent the interests of the people, not their own or their group’s interests.

However, this change will not happen on its own. We need to fight for it.

We need to ensure that our voices are heard and that our leaders are held accountable for their actions.

Indonesia is at a crossroads. We can let nepocracy run rampant, or we can fight for democracy. The choice is in our hands.

Let’s use our voting rights wisely in the 2024 election and ensure that Indonesia returns to the path of democracy.

With deep knowledge and understanding of this topic, we can help bring about the change we desire.

Thus, we can help realize a better and fairer Indonesia.

Let’s fight together for a better Indonesia. Let’s fight for democracy. Let’s fight against nepocracy.

jlk – Indonesia, a country rich in culture and diversity, is on the brink of significant change.
