Now, in South Africa, the annual consumer price inflation rose to 5.3% in January 2024, up from 5.1% in December 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is slightly higher than the market estimate of only 5.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In general, the US dollar usually strengthens in times of global uncertainty or expectations of US interest rate hikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the rand usually strengthens when there is increased demand for risk assets or commodities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
